Detroit, MI - November 27, 2017 - NEXT:SPACE is a Detroit-based retailer and curator of furniture, objects and interior elements. NEXT:SPACE works with local designers and craftsmen of outstanding skill and creative sensibility, helping them develop, exhibit and sell their work, carrying on the legacy of iconic design in Michigan and nurturing the next generation of designers and collectors of important design.

The NEXT:SPACE showroom quietly opened its doors in mid-November, presenting the work of 17 local artists and designers in a collection meticulously curated to embody the diversity of Detroit design. "There is, even today, a misconception that 'Detroit Design' means one aesthetic, one set of materials..", says Isabelle Weiss, founder and curator of NEXT:SPACE, "This could not be farther from the truth! One of the primary goals of NEXT:SPACE is to convey the wonderfully diverse range of design coming from this city and this region, a diversity that really makes us unique as a city of design.".

After five years of developing a platform for local design through pop up exhibitions and specially commissioned design projects, Weiss is happy to have a permanent home for NEXT:SPACE. There could not have been a better home to launch the new age of local design than The Fisher Building - an architectural icon infamously known as, "Detroit's largest art object". The showroom, located in a quiet corner on the fourth floor, allows buyers to easily support a wide range of local designers and is curated to be a paradise discovered, a haven of beautiful design that inspires a creative and innovative approach to decorating and interior design.

The showroom features a monthly rotation of NEXT:SPACE collections, current offerings include the inaugural GATEWAY COLLECTION, a group collection featuring small furniture, objects and lighting - all at introductory price points. Discover The GATEWAY COLLECTION Here. Individual designer collections will also be featured each month. First on the schedule is the COLIN TURY Fairfax Collection, launching December 8th, 6-9pm with a special preview event. RSVP HERE.

In addition to retail collections, design preview events and bi-annual exhibitions, NEXT:SPACE also offers a curated program of design experiences and consulting services for residential and commercial clients to incorporate local design into spaces big and small for work or play.
